Love Food Festival is back for an autumnal extravaganza celebrating the turn of the seasons and everything delicious that comes with it.

It’s the day before Halloween, so expect plenty of spooky goings on, including exceptional pumpkin carving, creepy crafts and our annual children’s fancy dress competition.

The demo kitchen will be a celebration of autumn with local chefs and experts providing lots of inspiration for how to cook, preserve and enjoy this season’s abundant produce.

The indoor market will reflect the abundance at this time of year with everything you need for the week’s food shop including fresh fish, grass fed meats, fresh vegetables, cheeses, fresh bread, jams, chutneys and a few gift ideas to boot. Pick up a hot mulled cider as you wander round the market.

Outside in the courtyard visitors will find an exceptional street food line-up, including seasonal, vegan delights from ‘Beyond the Kale’, Stew and scones from Scoff and Relish, Vietnamese treats from ‘Viet Vite’, and delectable churros from ‘Churros Ole’. The soundtrack will be provided by Love Food and St Nick’s Night Market resident ‘DJ Rowley’.

There will also be a beautiful seasonal mandala outside in the courtyard and plenty of activities for the young ones. These include Day of the Dead arts and crafts, garlic planting to keep the vampires at bay and the Love Food tuck shop, where children will be encouraged to make something delicious and healthy to sell in the tuck shop – all proceeds will go to Magic Breakfast – a charity that provides breakfasts to fuel learning for those that need it. Keep your eyes peeled for the amazing ‘Wilf Keys’ who will be performing his incredible magic show throughout the day.

Commenting, Love Food Festival founder Lorna Knapman said: “We’re excited to be back at what has to be one of our favourite times of year. The clocks are going back, the nights are drawing in and it’s a great time to slow down and enjoy fantastic food and seasonal celebrations with loved ones. We are delighted to be working with Magic Breakfast , enabling us to spread the love and help provide some delicious breakfasts to children who need them.

Carmel McConnell, Founder and Chief Executive of Magic Breakfast: "Half a million children in the UK start their school day too hungry to learn. By supporting Love Food Festival you will be helping to give many of these vulnerable schoolchildren a healthy and happy start to the day and the chance to do well in their lessons. A big thank you from everyone at Magic Breakfast".

Notes to editors
Love Food Festival was founded by Lorna Knapman in 2008 with the aim of highlighting the good food that is available in the South West and where that food comes from. Children are always a priority and the festival strives to feed their imaginations and ignite a passion for learning about food and its importance. This year marks the festival’s 8th anniversary.

The event will feature a huge indoor 'Love Food' market, seasonal cookery demonstrations and talks, global street food, wild food, face painting, Halloween mandala making, music, local brews, seasonal specials, magic, juice bar, fancy dress competition, arts and crafts, children's healthy tuck shop, afternoon tea, pumpkin carving and much more.
