The Royal National Mod 2006: Ceud Mile Failte - One Hundred Thousand Welcomes !

The Royal National Mod is Scotlands biggest festival which celebrates the Gaelic language, arts, music and culture of Scotland. The Mod is an annual event in October held in a different part of Scotland each year.

The Mod - which means a gathering, court or assembly - is a competitive event for children and adults and also has a Fringe with informal non-competitive events.

Competitions at the Royal National Mod include Gaelic Music and Song, Highland Dance, Piping, Clarsach, Sport, Literature.

The Mod Fringe includes music sessions, book launches, Gaelic Business Showcase, literature, concerts and ceildihs. Massed Gaelic Choirs and Massed Pipe Bands.

The Mod attracts competitors and visitors from throughout the UK, Ireland, USA, Australia and Canada.

Main sponsors of the Royal National Mod include Caledonian MacBrayne, EventScotland, Royal Bank of Scotland , Royal Mail and Islay Mist Whisky.

Mod 2006 will take place from Friday 13 October to Saturday 21 October.
