Peebleshire (or the county of Peebles) is a former county of Scotland. Its county town was Peebles and it was bounded by Lanarkshire to the west, Dumfriesshire in the south, Selkirkshire in the east and Midloathian in the north. The county was abolished in 1975 although the term is still commonly used by locals as opposed to the new district name of ‘Tweedale.’
