Rutland County Museum: The Rutland County Museum displays illustrate the archaeology of Rutland, and its rural trades and occupations, domestic life and agriculture. They are strong in the tools and equipment of village tradesmen - the wheelwright and carpenter, the blacksmith and farrier, the cooper, shoe-maker and tinsmith, the plumber and decorator. The local brewery is not forgotten. The veterinary care of livestock is covered, and there is a simulation of a farm kitchen of the turn of the century, with fittings from local buildings. Special exhibitions, often of the work of local artists, are of additional attractions.
In the 19th century Poultry Hall, more emphasis is placed on aspects of farming life such as dairying, crop production and the barn. Here there is a rare Saunderson tractor acquired by the Friends of the Museum with Science Museum grant-aid. In a courtyard which links the buildings, farm implements are on display.
