Find out the steps businesses, charities and consumers can take to improve their digital capability, and the financial benefits this can bri
About this eventUsing the latest data from our Business and Consumer Digital Indices, we will look at the digital savvy of businesses, consumers and charities in the South West.
Our Business Digital Index in 2016 showed that many small businesses in the South West are embracing digital, with three quarters buying online and over half taking online payments. Nearly one-quarter are now using digital to help them to trade overseas, this is a crucial step for our small businesses.
However, the findings also showed there is still an opportunity to do more in the region, with half of these organisations without a website and 37% lacking the basic digital skills needed to make the most of the internet.
We will also look at our Consumer Digital Index, which showed earlier this year that highly digitally capable consumers enjoy greater financial resilience - they make savings deposits 50% more often. Their savings deposits are also on average four times bigger. The report also found that consumers in the South West are some of the most digitally mature in the UK, but still 19 per cent of consumers have a low digital capability.
The talk will focus on the findings, and also the steps businesses, charities and consumers can take to improve their digital capability, and the financial benefits this can bring. We’ll also highlight the work Lloyds Banking Group is doing in this area, through our almost 1500 digital champions, Google Garage events and mentoring, and give you a chance to ask any questions you may have.
