Saturday 8th October - Bruton Dub Club
Donette Forte & The Urban Lions are an eight piece roots reggae train with the lioness of British roots music, Donette Forte at the controls and a well versed crew of singers and players from station to station.
Their show comes after touring the UK and Europe and headlining some outstanding venues and festivals such as One Love, Boomtown and Hootenany, up and down the country and overseas, this year and last.
Donette came to prominence in the early ’90s with release of her ‘Wilderness’ album and its accompanying 12″ single ‘Rhythm Of Resistance’, both released on Jah Works Records. These records now fetch collectors’ prices as pioneer recordings in the UK Roots & Dub explosion of the late ’80s and early ’90s.
Those that know Donette's reputation, who love dub, roots reggae and jump up ska should understand the influence her music has had on British roots music over the last 25 years while our new audience will be given the opportunity to experience first hand the recordings and live performances of Donette Forte Urban Lions.
Bristol’s Roots Inspiration Sound bring their heavyweight roots reggae and spiritual dubs, and our special guest Mc Fellowdread
Our regular host introducing all, MC Clapper Priest, a Regular singer/MC at Londons' Reggae Club, Passing Clouds, Reggae Roast, Notting Hill Carnival, Glastonbury and many others as well as Bruton Dub Club, many touring visits to Italy, Germany, Spain, Israel, Japan, and The Netherlands.
