Zena and Emma have many years of experience home educating their own children, as well as supporting other families in their home education journey. They will be sharing their knowledge and insights, with an opportunity for a question and answer session and focused discussions on home educating a child with special educational needs, supporting home educated teens and exam options.

Zena Hodgson - Home Education Mentor & Personal Life Coach Home educated her 3 children throughout their “school years” and has helped hundreds of other families with their home educating journey. She has run a support website for families for over 10 years (www.homeeducationsw.org.uk) and spoken at a variety of conferences and learning exchanges focused on alternative education, flexischooling and home education.
Emma Dunn - Home Education Mentor & Developmental Therapist Home educated both her children for eight years. With a background in child-development and learning, she has been a SENCO in a SEN nursery and Manager & SENCO of a Surestart Children’s Centre nursery. She currently works for a small UK charity supporting and advising children and young people with learning disabilities and difficulties, and their families.
Both Zena and Emma helped to develop the Home Education Centre in Somerset, which focused on child-centred learning. They have provided evidence to Government Committees on the subject of Elective Home Education and acted as liaison between home educating families and Local Authority. They now run WakeUp2Life together; specialising in promoting and supporting child-centred learning, empowering families and young people to take back responsibility and control of their lives.
