Farmer Wants a Wife for Valetines Day

Puxton Park, Tuesday, 14 February 2012

14 FEB

Farmer Wants a Wife for Valetines Day: ONE of the South West's most popular adventure parks is to host its first ever Farmer Wants a Wife event to coincide with Valentine's Day.

Puxton Park, in Hewish, is to stage the event following the success of ITV reality show Farmer Wants a Wife, whereby contestants hoped to be chosen by one bachelor farmer.

The Somerset adventure park will offer its own take on the show by giving discounted entry to children dressed as farmers or those wearing party dresses for Valentine's Day.

Discounted entry, at £4 per child with a paying adult, is only into the park during the day, as there will be a disco between 6pm-8pm, hosted by Guinness World Record Holder, DJ Jack Hill, 11, of Weston.

Tickets for the disco must be bought in advance with entry charged £3 per child for members, £4 per child for non-members and all children must be supervised.

Alistair Mead, managing director of Puxton, said: Farmer wants a wife was a huge hit with spin offs created in numerous countries across Europe, as well as Australia and the US.

We thought it would be fun to offer our own take on it by hosting a fun Farmer Wants a Wife disco for children and who better to host it than talented DJ Jack Hill.

Puxton is all about connecting more people with farming and what better way than to encourage the children to come dressed as farmers for a party.

Some schools are cracking down on Valentine's Day by not allowing children to send cards, so we want children to come and enjoy the day with us.

Our Halloween disco is always a huge hit with the youngsters so we anticipate huge crowds to turn out and have a fun Valentine's Day during half term week.

Activities will run throughout the day with heart facing painting and heart balloons, followed by the disco from 6-8pm.

The farm shop will also be selling a range of romantic hampers containing wine and chocolates, with one lucky visitor winning one on the day by entering a draw.

Set in the beautiful Somerset countryside the 70-acre family park is one of the largest visitor attractions in the region offering a pet village, farm animals and a falconry centre.

For play there is an indoor three-storey play barn, outdoor play with an inflatable bouncy pillow, giant castle, maze, adventure course, boating lake, and JCB sand pit.

There is also the award winning Meadow's restaurant and a farm shop selling local produce including Somerset grown vegetables, strawberries from Cheddar, local cheeses and meats from award winning Gerald David Butchers.
