Enter the world of the applied arts with a day at one of the finest art potteries alive today with television celebrity, and ceramic expert, Eric Knowles and paint your own heirloom!
The Moorcroft Heritage Visitor Centre & Museum's Discovery Day with celebrity, Eric Knowles, is something you will remember for many years to come as you look at the coaster you will have made yourself under the watchful eye of some of the best ceramic designers in the world. Since 1897, each piece of Moorcroft Pottery has been made entirely by hand from start to finish using liquid clay to create a raised ceramic outline before being hand painted.
Upon arrival, you will be given a warm welcome before you lecture with antiques expert and superb raconteur, Eric Knowles, on Moorcroft's place within the Applied Arts. After that, a guided tour of the pottery will inspire you before you go on to paint your own coaster. The tour will last approximately one- hour. Please advise us of any special needs or requirements. A two-course lunch with wine is included in your ticket price.
If this is not enough, you will be given an opportunity to peruse the Moorcroft Museum and 'for sale' items in the Moorcroft Heritage Visitor Centre's shop. You will be given a £50 voucher to spend on the day on Moorcroft Pottery. Your hand painted coaster will be sent to you after it has been fired twice in our kilns.
