Amon Amarth: Amon Amarth is a Viking themed melodic death metal band from Tumba in Sweden.
The band formed in 1992 taking their name from the Sindarin translation of Mount Doom, a location in J.R.R.
Tolkien’s Middle-earth.
The band was originally known as Scum, releasing a demo single under that name in 1988 before changing it to Amon Amarth in 1992.
The band comprises of five members Vocalist Johan Hegg, Olavi Mikkonen and Johan Soderberg as the guitarists, bassist Ted Lundstrom and their drummer Fredrik Andersson.
Amon Amarth are touring Europe in 2012 and are set to play a few gigs in the UK during March 2012.
The band have confirmed they will be playing at festivals across Europe in 2012 including Brutal Assault festival and Hellfest 2012.
