Cider With Rosie: by Laurie Lee

in a new adaptation by Daniel OBrien

directed by Abigail Anderson

designed by Dora Schweitzer

original music composed by TJ Holmes

A new and beautifully lyrical production based on Laurie Lees classic novel on childhood in Rural Gloucestershire.

Rural Gloucestershire, England 1917. Horses pulling ploughs. Charabanc outings to Weston-super-Mare. The frozen white winters and blazing orange summers of memory. Heroic fourteen-year-old giant Spadge Hopkins. Tyrannical teacher Old Crabby. The warring ancient rival Grannies Trill and Wallon. And of course that first, unforgettable, cider-fuelled encounter in the harvest fields. Laurie Lees story puts on record the England that we have traded for the petrol engine in an evocative prose poem that sparkles, winks and wryly smiles.

He had a nightingale inside him read his Guardian obituary it will be heard singing clearly in this charming and lyrical production.
