Herald of Spring Medieval Fun and Games

Bourne Hall, Saturday, 03 March 2012 - Sunday, 04 March 2012

Herald of Spring Medieval Fun and Games: Bourne Hall's Herald of Spring will mingle the sound of clashing steel and the merriment of a Shrove Tuesday Fair as history unfolds in a pageant extending 400 years from the coming of the Normans to the Wars of the Roses. Visit the fair with its stalls in which the apothecary, fletcher and other tradesmen work at their crafts. Thrill as the Battles of Hastings and Bosworth are fought once more. Try jousting if you dare! Learn how to fight with a sword! and perhaps you too will join in the heat of battle. You may need this skill to fight off the living dead of the Middle Ages as they rise up before the storyteller's art. Gather in the crowd when bearbaiting and cockfighting are brought back to life. For the less stout of heart there will be musicians and dancing, with a chance to try sports including quoits and foot wrestling, and to take home your own brass rubbing.
