Polesden Lacey: House with opulent Edwardian interiors, set in beautiful downland countryside. In an exceptional setting on the North Downs this Regency house was extensively remodelled in 19069 by the Hon. Mrs Ronald Greville, a well-known Edwardian hostess. Her collection of fine paintings, furniture, porcelain and silver is displayed in the reception rooms and galleries, as it was at the time of her celebrated house parties. There are extensive grounds, a walled rose garden, lawns and landscape walks through part of the 560ha (1400-acre) estate. The future King George VI and Queen Elizabeth spent part of their honeymoon here in 1923.

Tours of garden and grounds by volunteer guides on most days. Special tours of house for booked groups only at additional charge. Programme of events, inc. Summer open-air festival. Telephone for details.

Licensed tea-room. Limited menu on Mon & Tues in main season. Also in Jan-March & Nov-Dec. Booked Christmas lunches 7-9, 12-16 & 19-21 Dec.

Baby-changing facilities. Front-carrying baby slings and hip-carrying infant seats for loan. Children's play area. .
