Great Strides 65

Newlands Corner, Saturday, 19 May 2012

19 MAY

Great Strides 65: Great Strides 65 is a brand new event from the Cystic Fibrosis Trust which invites teams of 4-6 people to undertake a sponsored walk from Newlands Corner near Guildford to Shoreham by Sea along the Downs Link on Saturday 19 May 2012.

The route will take you to a maximum height of 133 metres with a total ascent of just over 500 metres in under 16 hours, with a support team who will meet you at checkpoints to help you to refuel and change clothes.

This event is being organised by the Cystic Fibrosis Trust, the UK's only national charity dedicated to all aspects of Cystic Fibrosis (CF). We fund research to treat and cure CF and aim to ensure appropriate clinical care and support for people with Cystic Fibrosis.

Cystic Fibrosis (CF) is one of the UK's most common life-threatening inherited diseases affecting over 9,000 people in the UK.

Over two million people in the UK carry the faulty gene that causes Cystic Fibrosis - around 1 in 25 of the population.

Only half of those living with Cystic Fibrosis are likely to live past their late 30s.
