Guildford House Gallery: "Local art, architecture, craft and history is presented to Guildford so admirably by the staff of Guildford House - to miss an 'event' is the only disappointment.
Guildford House is a fascinating 17th century town house at the top of Guildford High Street - opposite Sainsbury's. It is now Guildford Borough Council's art gallery showing selections from the Borough's Collection and varied temporary exhibitions.
The Gallery Gift Shop is well known for its selection of greetings cards and high quality original craftwork, including scarves, glass, ceramics and jewellery.
The main entrance has two steps up, which may be manageable by a manual wheelchair user with a great deal of assistance. There is no alternative access. Wheelchairs would not manoeuvre comfortably in any of the displays, but some of the copy, height and labels are appropriate for disabled/children. Stairs only to other levels. The Reception area is easily located. The desk is attended when the museum is open. There is no induction loop. The reception area also functions as a gift shop.
Admission times: Tues-Sat 10:00-16:45.
