Our StoryMR TEA AND THE MINIONS·TUESDAY, DECEMBER 19, 2017
Hello, lets write a quick Minions story then before we barrage you with links and our press bio ;) We genuinely have so much fun as a band and consider ourselves very lucky to have such a strong band dynamic, which is really important for any group of people who spend so so much time together (especially in smelly vans and fields)! Here’s a little story of how we came together: Our band was born out of Tomo’s new found love of Balkan music around 2012/2013. He then started to write some songs and very scrappily try and produce them! When releasing his efforts online, now a lot more polished by collaborating with DJ Howla, he realised he needed a name (James Tomlinson isn’t a very cool artist name)! Mr Tea came from there (Tomo likes tea you see) - they decided to put a band together and asked Elle (vox), Lucy (violin) and Chris (Bass) to join what was nicknamed Mr Tea and the Minions as a joke that was never meant to go so far...... From that initial 5 formed in 2013, Elle, Lucy and Tomo are still with the band and since 2014 they have been in the current lineup featuring Fabian on drums and the 2 James’ on guitar and bass. The 6 of them immediately clicked musically and personally and the relationships flourished as the band quickly gained a reputation of being massively fun, energetic (a bit silly) and hit the festival circuit and never looked back! Since then things have been on a constant spiral upwards and the 6 have got closer together, have more fun than ever on and off stage and are always excited for what’s around the corner! Long may this continue :)
