Kew Palace: CLOSED FOR REPAIRS

Kew Palace, used by the royal family between 1729 and 1818, is the last survivor of several important royal residences at Kew. The Palace, George IIIs family home, set in the grounds of the beautiful Royal Botanic Gardens Kew, is currently closed for major repairs. Queen Charlottes Cottage nearby, was used by the King and his family as a summerhouse and today is open for special events at certain times during the year.

Kew Palace is currently closed for major repairs. However, visitors can still admire the exterior of the building, which has now been completed, and wander through the delightful 17th-century style garden at the rear, with its brick garden house and ironwork gazebo.

The Royal Botanic Gardens Kew has cafes and shops located throughout the Gardens. For further information, please visit their Web site using the link on the Kew Palace home page.

The Royal Botanic Gardens Kew is located close to Richmond upon Thames, a short bus or car journey from the town centre with its many shops, restaurants, theatres and other amenities. Or why not visit one of the other Historic Royal Palaces? Hampton Court Palace is a short drive or bus ride away (on the R68 bus from Richmond). Or take the District Line from Kew Gardens station to Kensington Palace, the Banqueting House or the Tower of London.
