Arundel Castle: There is nearly 1,000 years of history at this great castle, situated in magnificent grounds overlooking the River Arun in West Sussex and built at the end of the 11th century by Roger de Montgomery, Earl of Arundel.
Arundel Castle is now the home of The Duke and Duchess of Norfolk and their children. As Earl Marshal, the Duke is head of the College of Arms, founded in 1484, the official authority on heraldry and genealogy in England and Wales.
The grounds, together with the keep and gatehouse, have been open to the public since 1800 and the gardens since 1854. There are eight tours throughout the season led by Gerry Kelsey, the head gardener, who gives a fascinating insight into the history of the gardens.
The tours are on the following dates in 2005 and start at 11am finishing at 12.30pm:

5 & 19 August
2, 16 & 23 September
