In 1896 the first factory to make motor cars for sale was founded in Coventry.
Coventrys first successful motor car company was Daimler.
Since then there have been 138 vehicle makers in the City.
Coventry has also had over 300 cycle manufacturers and almost 90 motorcycle builders.
