People, Space, Movement: The Business Council for Sustainable Development United Kingdom (BCSD-UK) is to hold an event in the West Midlands on 22 March highlighting both the future opportunities and challenges of living in a low carbon world.
People, Space, Movement will comprise exhibits ranging from high speed, low emission sports cars and hydrogen city cars to the design and construction of zero carbon cities, and live debates featuring internationally-renowned experts in their respective fields. Collectively the event will provide a vision of what it will be like to live in a low carbon world.
This unique, national congress is being held in the Jaguar Hall at Coventrys Ricoh Arena and will bring together experts, entrepreneurs, business leaders, academics and the public in an effort to clarify the implications of sustainable, low carbon living and accelerate the process of change both in attitude and the development/adoption of new products/services.
Commenting on the event David Middleton, CEO of the BCSD-UK, said: People, Space Movement will be a dynamic event that brings together a range of individuals and organisations with one important thing in common a shared desire to develop and learn new ways in which we can respond to the challenges of a changing world. The global population is growing and changing and impacting on resources and we continue to pollute and waste. We simply have no option. We must change the way we live on the planet.
We will be looking at a broad range of topics, from transportation to building design and energy to communication all of which are evolving rapidly as population attitudes and requirements change. I would therefore like to extend an invitation to those businesses and private individuals
interested in working together towards a sustainable future to attend and be a part of the debate.
People, Space, Movement will feature an exhibition hall where many near market and market-ready products/services will be on display. The interactive debates to be held throughout the day will be led by the Business Commissioner of the Sustainable Development Commission, Dr Stewart Davies, Founder of the European Forum for the Automobile and Society Malcolm Harbour, MEP, and Director of the Office for Low Emission Vehicles Michael Hurwitz.
Gareth Stanley, Environment Technology Cluster Manager for Advantage West Midlands added: The Environmental Technology sector contributes £4.4 billion to the West Midlands economy and employs around 74,000 people across a range of markets including the supply of low carbon environmental goods, renewable energy, waste management and emerging low carbon technologies.
We are therefore delighted that the BCSD-UK has chosen to hold this prestigious national event in Coventry and look forward to welcoming visitors from across the UK who want to help realise the positive potential of sustainable living.
