A day for women to get advice about their personal safety with plenty of hints, tips and lunch thrown in. WOMEN ONLY
It can be confusing to understand what we can all do to support ourselves and, should the need ever arise, how we then report to the Police and to know what to expect.
We are delighted to be able to offer you a day where all your questions can be answered. Sussex Police are supporting us in putting on this day for you and will be sharing their expertise, guidance and help. The day is designed to give you information and ensure you are equipped with the knowledge you need and be confident wherever you are.
The day will be taking place at the wonderful Lansdowne Hotel on Eastbourne seafront and includes a light lunch.
Who you will be seeing from Sussex Police:
Kara who will talk about the amazing work Sussex Police are doing around violence against women and girls, how women can look after themselves, how to report any incidents and stay safe, along with how can we identify others who are at risk or suffering and what to do.
Matt will share with us what constitutes a hate crime, or a non-hate crime incident, and again how we can look after ourselves and others, and report this.
Michele will talk about, and demonstrate, some self-defence techniques and show us how we can defend ourselves, if needed.
We know from local research that women do not get in touch with the police to report these things and so we've stepped up and said, “Let's change this. Let's make our streets and homes safer for women.”
Come along to this informative and enlightening day, share lunch with other amazing women, ask all your questions and leave feeling empowered, confident and self-assured.
Please, as this is a free event, and we are providing lunch, let us know in advance if you are unable to attend so that we can release your space for someone else.
We have sought funding to help pay for the event but if you feel able to leave a donation on the day, then please do so. It will go towards helping vulnerable women at our drop-in centre.
