The Shakespeare Raceway 5km 10km and Half Marathon: Shakespeare County Raceway reverts back to raw footpower than horsepower on Saturday March 3rd when the annual RUNBREEZE.com 5km, 10km & Half Marathon takes to the runways and roadways of Long Marston Airfield.
Organised by two very busy and accomplished runners behind Warwickshire based multisports management company Raceways.eu, Race Directors Martine Verweij and Catherine O'Carroll have been organising the events at Long Marston Airfield as well as other races like the recent Halloween Horror run in the Warwickshire area for over four years.
Martine & I are living our dream of being involved in sport as a hobby, says Catherine. Through our work as well as getting the next generation more sports orientated we believe this is the best way to lead healthier happier lives.
As well as having fun while running, Saturday's race will also help to support the Leamington based non profit making organisation Kids Run Free' which is designed to encourage children towards running in the current climate of rising childhood obesity and cut backs in school sports funding.
Kids Run Free also hosts FREE running races for toddlers to teenagers (0-16 years) on the first Saturday of every month in the West Midlands and aims to host free races all across England by the end of 2012 and across the UK by the end of 2015.
Sponsored by Runbreeze.com the run will be flagged off at 11.00 am with a pre-race warm up and briefing on the drag strip start line at 10.45 am. For those not so energetic and would rather watch than take part there will be full catering and sports stalls, toilet facilities on site, free parking as well as a race car display.
