New Place and Nashs House

New Place, Stratford, Warwickshire, CV376EP

New Place and Nashs House: New Place in Chapel Street was William Shakespeares final retirement home. Built by Hugh Clopton it was the second largest building in Stratford and was the only house made from brick. In addition to the exceptional collection of Elizabethan furniture and tapestries, Nashs House also has displays upstairs on the fascinating history of Stratford.

At the rear of Nashs House and New Place is an enclosed garden, entered via Chapel Lane. The Shakespeare Memorial Garden, tended by The Birthplace trust, stands on the site of New Places orchards and kitchen gardens.
