ALSO Festival Lifestyle

Across the programme Also seeks to find out more, from the personal to the universe itself. Discussions with authors and professors include assessing the meaning of dreams, Brexit one year on, ancient mythology, psychoactive substance laws, embracing past experiences, analysing the ways radicals use tech and much more. DJs and live musicians provide the soundtrack to the weekend, whilst Also's beautiful lakeside banqueting tent hosts a broad range of fine dining experiences and bespoke camping options offer a luxury twist. 2017's theme is Truth or Dare as festival-goers of all ages are invited to get involved, with everything from wine tasting to cabaret, extreme song lyric bingo, rave yoga and bringing scents to life through human voices. Also Festival takes place between 30th June - 2nd July 2017. Weekend tickets with camping start at just £120. For more information visit also-festival.com
The fourth Also Festival takes place in the stunning lake-side setting of Park Farm, Warwickshire, within 50 acres of beautiful 'Capability' Brown landscaped grounds, all open for festival-goers to explore, swim and relax in. Like the location, Also's programming encourages experiences without constraints, whether that's learning how to live like an animal, learning to paint, act or sitting down to a three course dinner in the festival's beautiful dining tent. Across the weekend the festival will welcome professors, authors, theorists and more to share their ideas and bring them to life in a live setting.

IDEAS

Also Festival is guided by the most impressive group of influential and thought provoking speakers, all on hand to leave you feeling truly inspired by big ideas. Highlights include geneticist Dr Adam Rutherford who will reveal just how much we are all immigrants in the UK, celebrated author of Dark Net, Jamie Bartlett returns from the fringes of the internet to tell us who is there and what they are doing, Philippa Perry is on hand to decode the meanings from our dreams and celebrated author Natalie Haynes debuts her brand new show 'Honour Among Thebes' how to harness the power in storytelling.
Festival-goers are invited to witness Psychiatrist Professor Carmine Pariante explain the complex systems behind good mental health, Salon London's 2017 Transmission Prize winner Dr Danny Dorling explains the relationship between geography and politics plus hear leading philosopher Roman Krznaric reclaim the Latin phrase Carpe Diem - it's time to stop living in the moment.

Other popular thinkers invited to stoke the cognitive fires with a series of interactive sessions are a recreation of Professor Clay Routledge’s experiment ‘Fountains Of Youth’, exploring and embracing our memories of the past to improve our future, the acclaimed Professor David Nutt on the potential loss to science the psychoactive substances bill brings plus the great mathematician’s Professor David Tong’s connects us with the poetry of gravitational waves.

FOOD

Also Festival’s foodie offering raises the culinary bar with delectable dishes, theatric productions and truly immersive experiences. Housed in a separate banquet tent with full kitchen and bar, this year sees yet another expansive menu including the Shakespearean Midsummer Night’s Dream restaurant serving local food sourced within ten miles of Warwickshire's Park Farm, Fruhstuck BBQ Brunch delivers a traditional twist on classic Germanic, plus a series of themed midnight feasts are hosted over the weekend including one decked out as a Victorian Shipwreck.

Festival-goers can dine by the lake for a Spanish themed Sundaze Feast or relish in Sunday's Balearic Brunch, which brings a taste of Ibiza to the Warwickshire countryside thanks to James Knight and Rebecca Otero. Prices for each bespoke food event start from £15 with bookings open from March.

TRUTH OR DARE

This year there will be activities and talks aplenty exploring the theme of ‘Truth or Dare’, inviting the curious to discover new things and dare to try something different. Human League's Dare album will be given a choir makeover with late night singing on the Lakeside stage, whilst additional food offerings welcome the Truth and Dare Banquet with pudding procession plus the Truth or Dare High Tea. A special sensory experience comes courtesy of celebrated perfumier Sarah McCartney from 4160 Tuesdays, guiding Also goers on a scented tour powered by human voices. Workshops come from RADA and inspired by Paul Thek on all things drama and sculpture, plus show stopping cabaret from Cabaret Fantastique with Marcel Le Cont, wine tasting with festival co-founder Helen Bagnall and pastoral poems complete a truly versatile lineup. Further highlights across the weekend include Acoustoke, Choral-oke, Rave Yoga, Bat Walks and more; there’s truly something for everyone.

NATURE

With Also taking place amongst the backdrop of Park Farm's beautifully sculpted Capability Brown fields, its impossible not to come away feeling completely at one with the festival's natural surroundings. Putting it to the test is University of Oxford's Dr Charles Foster with his inspiring talk 'Could you live like a badger?', empathetically reversing the roles of human and animal for a refreshing perspective. Other highlights includeGlamping Bouquet flower making workshops to drape the festival in floral colour, sunrise Sundaze lake swimming to start the day and to capture it all Christian Banfiled who's on hand for an expert masterclass in landscape photography.

FAMILY

Whether its classic and competitive Lip Sync Battles, hell raising Musical Theatre Oke, ornate Lantern Making and Costume Making workshops and more, Also runs an extensive festival programme to entertain all ages. A special programme of foodie events for the kids includes the Kidnight Beast, a midnight feast packed with storytelling and woodland animals plus the luxurious Summer Afternoon Tea. For camping needs Safari Hotel are on hand providing a 5 star luxury bell tent camping option for all the family, aiding that perfect weekend stay with a fully furnished abode overlooking the lake and just a few minutes from the festival gates.

MUSIC

In 2017, the music becomes even more interactive. Also-goers are invited to perform in a newly created choral piece led by Juliet Russell, festival co-founder and vocal coach on BBC's The Voice that highlights some of the stories and experiences of the current worldwide diaspora amongst a maze of candlelight. An ‘icons’ series will celebrate some of pop music’s greatest icons with one-hour masterclasses, designed to help master a classic from Prince, Kate Bush David Bowie and Aretha Franklin. Also welcomes a dedicated playlist from Northern Soul Hour plus the sublime 70s inspired Studio 54 Disco not to mention engaging festival-goers with Sundaze DJ Sessions and more.

With previous guests including Faithless founding member Jamie Catto, soulful crooner Andro from chart topping duo Jungle, Afropean choir Mizike, DJs Justin Robertson, Greg Wilson and many more, stay tuned for even more stellar additions to the Also Festival bill very soon.
