Burke and hare were 19th century murders who sold their victims for dissection. This is the story of Burke's wife Helen MacDougal
William Burke's common law wife, Helen MacDougal (played by Mercedes Yearley), was unaware until the final murder at a Halloween party, which she witnessed and tried to prevent. William Burke and Helen MacDougal were arrested, but she refused to say anything that might incriminate him. William Hare turned King's evidence, so just William Burke and Helen MacDougal went to trial. The case against her was not proven while William Burke was found guilty and sentenced to hang. Afterwards, she was driven out of Scotland. This is her story.VenueSouth London Theatre
