Drakelow Tunnels (originally known as Drakelow Underground Dispersal Factory) is an underground complex comprising of 3.5 - 4 miles of Tunnels which is spread over an area of 285,000 square feet. Construction of the complex commenced in 1941 during World War II and it's orginal use was as a shadow factory for the Rover Car Company housing machine workshops, dormitories, office, a BBC Studio, Communications facility and storage areas.

The underground complex had a change of use during the Cold War and in 1958 is was converted by the Home Office as a Regional Seat of Government due to the fear of Nucleur Attacks. In the event of a Nucleur Attack it would house government personnel, medical staff and a small amount of military personnel.
