Wartime Wedding - Nostalgic Presentation And Historical Costume Display

Sun Pavilion, Monday, 20 January 2025

20 JAN

Wartime Wedding - Nostalgic Presentation And Historical Costume Display: Led by York-based living history group, Century Adventures, you will be taken on a journey searching for the ideal bridal outfit for a land girl, Annie Barrow.

All in 1944, when everything is rationed and no womans seen any stockings for months...

Enjoy the search for parachute silk, knicker elastic, red lipstick and some good old-fashioned glamour as Annie casts aside her Land Girl breeches and transforms into a picture-perfect bride.

This delightfully nostalgic presentation features real and replica 1940s items, with readings from contemporary diaries, letters and publications on the subject of a Wartime Wedding.

Please book in advance on the above phone number or by emailing museums@harrogate.gov.uk, or popping into the Royal Pump Room Museum or Mercer Art Gallery.

Wartime Wedding - Nostalgic Presentation And Historical Costume Display at Sun Pavilion in Harrogate, Yorkshire on Monday, 20 January 2025.
