Helmsley Castle

Helmsley Castle, Helmsley, Yorkshire, YO65AB

Helmsley Castle: Helmsley Castle is situated amid an elaborately and purposefully designed landscape on the edge of the medieval market town of Helmsley. The massive earthworks and spectacular ruins of the castle can still be seen and are now more appealing than ever.

The castle is accessed by gravel paths and grass and a recommended route map will be provided. Access to the shop is level, but not recommended for motorised mobility buggies. Some of the grounds have sloping areas and the moat embankments are steep, with some sheer drops. Bench seating is available along the recommended access route. The first floor of the West Range is not wheelchair accessible, however, there is an interactive computer 'fly-through' of the upper rooms on the ground floor.
