Frazer Theatre Comedy Club 2nd Birthday Show Miscellaneous

Join NICK DOODY, TONY JAMESON, ZAHRA BARRI and TOM TOAL at the Frazer Theatre Comedy Club 2nd birthday celebrations. WE HAVE CAKE!

It’s a very special occasion at the Frazer Theatre Comedy Club on Friday 4th November, as we celebrate our 2nd birthday! Yes, two full years of bringing you the funniest men and women in the country have flown by in a whirlwind of gags, set-ups, punchlines, the occasional song and at least one puppet! What else could we do to mark this momentous occasion than to present one of the very best top-to-bottom shows we’ve ever put together, including one act who has been on our wish list since the very beginning and our now-traditional birthday show MC! Will there be cake? You better believe there’ll be cake!

As always tickets are £10 in advance from The Old Chemist Shop, Market Place, Knaresborough, by calling 07835 927965 or from our online box office at www.frazertheatre,co,uk Any remaining tickets will be available on the door for £12.

Joining us this month are:

Nick Doody
Nick Doody has been performing comedy since the 90s when, as a student, he got off to a pretty good start by supporting the legendary Bill Hicks, at Bill’s request. A little later, Nick was a finalist in Channel 4′s So You Think You’re Funny? competition.

Since then he has performed all over the world: Ireland, France, Spain, Switzerland, Germany, The Netherlands, Dubai, United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Hong Kong, Thailand, Malaysia, Estonia… You get the idea. He was the first British comedian to perform in Croatia.

Nick has appeared on various radio and TV shows and is also much in demand as a writer. He has penned jokes for Joan Rivers, Lenny Henry, Dame Edna Everage and an uncomfortable number of Mock The Week regulars. He was also the creator and head writer of Bigipedia, a critically acclaimed Radio 4 show that broadcast in 2009 and 2011.

In 2006, Nick performed his first solo Edinburgh Festival show, Before He Kills Again. The show received rave reviews and sold out for the whole festival, leading to a run at the Soho Theatre. Since then, Nick has written and performed another six solo hours of stand-up, including the most honest title ever to appear on a poster, Look At This Massive Picture Of My Face.

“You will see many shows before you see another comic hit so hard with such grace…quite brilliant. “ – The Scotsman

“very impressive … unfailingly good punchlines … intelligent and funny … comes with the chortle seal of approval” – Chortle

TONY JAMESON
A regular at comedy clubs across the north of England, the quick-fire Geordie is a real treat to watch in action. Having won critical acclaim for his solo show “Football Manager Ruined My Life”, detailing how a life-long obsession with the video game has influenced him, it’s a real treat to be able to see him in his natural environment, doing what he does best. Cool, imaginative and rip-roaringly funny, One of the finest of the new generation of comedy talent.

“Comedy at its finest…” – Three Weeks

“Wonderful… terrific … life affirming stuff” – The Skinny

ZAHRA BARRI
Half Irish/Half Egyptian, Zahra Barri is an effortlessly charming and hysterical performer. Since breaking into the circuit in 2011 she has reached the finals of many of the biggest and most-respected comedy competitions, before heading into even greater success supporting acts as diverse as Gail Porter and Howard Marks. Her heritage and upbringing give her a unique perspective on even the most mundane aspects of life and her ability to subvert and undermine expectations leaves the audience open to some blindingly brilliant jokes. A rare talent, one not to be missed.

‘Zahra Barri, a cool Rita Rudner…’ – Alan Nixon Channel 5 Head Of Comedy

TOM TOAL
Last seen at the Frazer during the Knaresborough Comedy Festival 2016, Tom is a true friend of the Frazer Theatre Comedy Club and one of our most popular MC’s ever. Which is exactly why he’s back to take charge of our special 2nd birthday show. One of the most naturally gifted performers to ever hit our, or any other, stage, Tom is currently in a run of form that is amazing to see. Always loveable, sometimes huggable, occasionally able to sell you insurance, we’re delighted to have Tom back once more.

“Tom Toal captivates his audience…superbly funny.” – Punchline Recommends

“Sincere schoolboy nostalgia & great audience interaction.” – Fringe Biscuit
