Treebeard At The Broomhill Festival: Treebeard was formed in 1998 by Haze & World Turtle brothers Chris & Paul McMahon plus Paul Chisnell (of Haze) and Gordon Walker, and were joined in 2006 by Ceri Ashton (of The Outlandish Knights & Hiraeth). Original guitarist Chris Jellis left the band in early 2009.
The band play original compositions as well as a selection of rock, pop, folk (& even country!) songs & tunes on a variety of acoustic instruments, including The Ace of Spades on fiddle & accordion, and Russian & Croatian tunes on giant balalaikas.
They are regulars on the beer festival circuit, playing Sheffield, Derby, Tamworth, Newark, Stockport, Lincoln, Stoke & Barnsley festivals, as well as performing at Earls Court for the Great British Beer Festival, and at the Cropredy fringe in 2008.
They describe their style as Heavy Wood, and have just released their second CD Reel Ale on Gabadon Records in April 2010. Their track Train is featured on the Forged in Sheffield folk compilation CD.
