The Alternate Experience is a cultural-themed event set to feature young talents in film-making, performing arts, music and creative design coming together to showcase their talents and promote the message of loveThe event is set to be held on the 28th of October at The Studio, Alhambra Theatre from 5pm to 9pmIt will feature a culture-themed creative display of diverse and experiential performances from emerging young talents who have worked together over the weeks and months to put together creative and inspiring works
Taking centre stage at TAE, is the official premiere of a proudly Bradford-produced movie called Joy is BitterJoy is Bitter brings to the Bradford screens the struggles that young people from abusive homes face and how despite those rough starts to life, it could lead to an amazing journey of a successful lifeThe plot features Joy bringing to life these struggles and the steady but transformational journey to finding joy again
The city of Bradford is home to diverse people, heritage, cuisines, cultures and mediums of expressionOne of those cultures is the Nigerian culture which is multi-diverse in itself tapping into several mediums of expression in fashion, music, arts and film to express this beautiful cultureTAE will feature performances from young aspiring music talents and groups, spoken word and poets, actors, cinematographers, photographers, creatives, content creators and event planners joining forces to create a beautiful and inclusive event for YouthsIt is a youth-themed event with the message of love for all and a launch pad to provide a medium of expression for undiscovered talents within the creative space to find their voice and develop the courage to venture into the culture and creative industry
We will also be looking to educate and address youth-related struggles such as domestic abuse, mental health and depression that has hugely affected young people within the under-represented communitiesThe major themes of this project are promoting love for all, the need to speak out, seeking help and the assurance that one can also make a positive impact in their life irrespective of their experiences
This project is put together by the Nigerian Youth community within Bradford that hails from the Youth arm of Chapel of His Glory, the Nigerian Community Association in Bradford and the University of Bradford which have been at the forefront of empowering people, alleviating poverty and promoting wellness within their communities
