Joan Baez: Having completed an outstanding tour of the US in 2011, Joan Baez is ready to embark on a twenty-one date tour of the United Kingdom, before heading to Germany and France in the latter days of spring.

Known for her gutsy vocal style, she began her career over 50 years ago by introducing folk music into the popular rock scene of the 60's.

She is well-known not only for her heady music and songwriting but also for her participation as an activist for peace and justice for all mankind.

Her desire to bring attention to the unfair conditions some people have to endure also began in the 60's. Over the years she has used her voice and songwriting skills to bring recognition to her many causes and to new artists.

One such artist was Bob Dylan, whom she introduced to the world in 1963.

It is only appropriate then, that she be one of the 80 artists featured on the "Chimes of Freedom" 4-disc album hitting the North America and worldwide markets at the end of January, 2012.

It pays tribute to Bob Dylan by featuring other artists singing his songs and celebrates Amnesty International's 50th year.

In the last few years she has also been featured on many albums honoring other artists, performed duets on several albums and recorded one album, re-released her autobiography and amassed numerous awards and recognitions for her participation in various causes. Joan Baez has a voice that has matured over the years as has her songwriting and song style.

She still takes the audience back to the 60's and early 70's with her folk music but she also sings many contemporary tunes for today's generation.
