Join us for the Boat Building Academy's Annual Open Day a free, behind the scenes celebration of traditional craftsmanship held on Saturday, April 25, at our Monmouth Beach workshop in Lyme RegisVisitors of all ages are welcome, and with the event taking place over a weekend, we often see guests travelling from far and wide to experience this unique showcase of British boatbuildingStep inside our working boatyard to explore an inspiring display of student built boats and handcrafted furniture, alongside the impressive vessels currently under construction in the workshopGuests can wander through the build spaces, immersing themselves in the sights, sounds, and smells of an authentic boatbuilding environment
Throughout the day, enjoy live woodworking demonstrations led by our tutors, students, and graduates offering an up close look at the specialist skills taught at the AcademyYounger visitors can take part in dedicated children's activities, while adults can relax with food, refreshments, and a fully stocked bar on site The Open Day is free to attendA public car park is located next to the academy on Monmouth Beach; please note this is a paid car park not operated by the Academy and typically fills quickly, but additional car parks are available throughout Lyme Regis
