This December, the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra are bringing a variety of festive concerts to the Lighthouse in Poole.
They commence the festive period on Wednesday 17 December, with one of the most celebrated pieces in the classical canon, Handel's jubilant oratorioSince 1742, Messiah has secured itself in the Christmas calendar as a true celebration of the nativityHeaped with beautiful arias including He was Despised and Rejected and I Know that My Redeemer Liveth and rousing choruses like For Unto Us a Child is Born and the ever-popular Hallelujah Chorus
Christmas just isn’t Christmas without the BSO's Last Night of the Christmas Proms concert! On Saturday 20 December, dive head first into festivities and bring the whole family along for this musical sleigh rideOrchestral classics, traditional Christmas numbers new and old, and a selection of Broadway and West End hits all wrapped up with a sprinkling of magic and a great big bow on topAnd with Pete Harrison returning as conductor and West-end-star Jenna Lee-James joining as a soloist, this evening of festive fanfare is sure to be the highlight of the season!
Experience the warmth and joy of Christmas with a concert devoted to the best traditional carols ever writtenOn Tuesday 23 December, join in the singing with the Bournemouth Symphony Chorus and Youth ChorusWith a selection of festive favourites, the evening is the perfect way to start the Christmas holiday in the company of family and friends, and a good old, sing-alongThe afternoon performance at 3pm is a shorter family friendly relaxed performance, whilst the 7pm evening concert celebrates the coming of the holiday season with an extended second half featuring a few more festive favourites
