Open Garden Day Historic/Heritage

open_garden_day

Explore the gardens of the historic Badminton House, home of the Duke and Duchess of Beaufort.

Visitors can witness the seasonal changes of the gardens starting with tulips in the spring through to the roses and dahlias in the summer.

There is a great variety of plants to view, from the formal beds on the east side of the house, designed by Russell Page, to the South Garden with its water squares, hedges, beds and borders. Glorious displays of roses and borders of soft summer colours are combined with herbaceous perennials, campanulas, penstemons, geraniums and phlox. The Walled Garden, a short stroll from the house through the park, is home to the Badminton House kitchen garden, providing fruit and vegetables as well as cut flowers for much of the year. An archway, running the full width of the garden, is covered with roses, clematis, wisteria and yellow laburnum. The greenhouse is used for propagation and houses a fine display of pelargoniums.

There will be a selection of plant and flower sellers, plus food and drink available from a range of stalls.

The exhibition A Garden of Botanical Art will also be on display in the Old Hall, with prints available to buy in the shop.

Admission
Open from 10am – 4pm with last entry at 3pm

Adults £10 pre-sale or £14 on the gate.

Seniors (60+) £7.50 pre-sale or £11 on the gate.

Carers and children under 12 go FREE.

Your contributions assist in supporting our volunteers from the Severn Area Rescue Association and the Church Restoration Fund to Save our Church organ.

DIRECTIONS
Head to Badminton Village or use postcode GL9 1DJ. This will take you to Kennel Drive which is the road into the Park.

If travelling from the North heading South then please DO NOT follow your Sat Nav down a private driveway and through the Park. You must go through Little Badminton Village and under a bridge.

Parking
There will be parking on the North Front grass and in the park by the Walled Garden. Disabled or elderly visitors may park in the disabled parking area.

Accessibility
There are designated areas near the Church entrance for disabled parking and on the North Front. The majority of the gardens are accessible to wheelchairs and those with mobility issues. Accessible toilets are available in the Old Hall. Please let one of our volunteers know if you require any assistance.

Refreshments and stalls
There will be a selection of food and drink stalls to purchase refreshments from plus local plant and flower sellers.

Dogs
NO DOGS in the private gardens with the exception of service, support and medical assistance dogs.

Well behaved dogs on short leads are allowed in the Park only at June and September’s event. We do not permit access to the Park in April due to the Badminton Horse Trials build.

Weather
If we have a particularly unfavourable weather forecast for the weekend, we may take the decision to cancel. Should this be the case you will be notified by email and your ticket fee will be refunded. We will still go ahead with light rain or changeable conditions.

Tickets are non-refundable aside from the event being cancelled on our part, as noted above.
