See working models of cars, cranes, trains and more, all built from Meccano, the famous construction toy invented by Frank Hornby in 1901.
London’s most popular Meccano Show returns to Falconwood for its 46th year!At our Meccano Show you’ll see working models of cars, cranes, trains, funfair rides and more, all built from Meccano, the famous construction toy invented by Frank Hornby in 1901.
This year, as part of the Railway 200 campaign, we’re celebrating 200 years of train travel since 1825 with extra special railway models and guest model railway exhibits.
If you’d like to try building a Meccano model our Make It With Meccano Workshop will supply you with parts and simple instructions, or you can design and build your own model using our supplied parts and enter it into our Meccano Creative Challenge for the chance to win a prize (entries must be submitted by 3:00pm).
We’ll also have non-Meccano guest exhibits and activities including:
* The Electronics Club Circuits Workshop — Build working circuits using real electronic components and microchips using the parts, simple instructions and guidance that will be provided. There’ll also be a demonstration of four aspect colour light signalling, the system used on our local railway lines.
* A Load of Balls — A selection of mechanical ball contraptions that are amusing to watch but otherwise useless, plus more useful hands-on toys along similar lines that will amuse youngsters and give parents at least ten minutes rest!
Our dealers will have Meccano parts and sets for sale, and you can win prizes in our raffle.
It’s a great day out for all the family, and FREE for accompanied kids!
