A new book by local author Guy JSinger is set to pop the cork on a forgotten piece of Island industry"Island Treasures" delves into the fascinating history of the Victorian and Edwardian producers behind the iconic ginger beer stoneware bottles found across the Isle of Wight
The book tells the human stories of the entrepreneurs and manufacturers who quenched the Island's thirst over a century agoFrom the busy bottling plants of Newport to the coastal trade in Ryde and Ventnor, Guy Singer documents the families behind the labels that remain highly sought-after by collectors todayOne such is the bottle from Brown's of Cowes, which is particularly rare, with fewer than half a dozen examples known

The official launch will take place on Sunday, 12 April 2026, at the Norton Grange Coastal Resort in Yarmouth
The author will be on hand to sign books and offer valuations on any local stoneware bottles you might have collected
