Ipswich Museum has extensive resource collections (zoology, botany, geology, archaeology, local history, ethnography) which are not on general display but are available to interested visitors by appointment. They are cared for by professional curatorial and conservation staff who are experts in their respective fields and provide a free enquiry and information service.
The Museum also houses the Suffolk Biological Records Centre which collects and interprets records of wildlife in the local area and across Suffolk.
Ipswich Museum is only five minutes walk from the town centre. There is a regular bus service from the railway station to the town centre. Crown multi-story is the nearest car park. There is short-stay coach parking on Crown Street, long-stay coach parking on Princes St./West End Road.
