The main hall in Purbeck School hosts the largest sales gallery in Dorset with work by members of the Dorset Arts and Crafts AssociationIt's the place to find that perfect present or souvenir of your holidayAll the art, craft and photography in main hall is for sale and can be taken away on day of purchase
Showcase 2024 also features our Open Art, Craft and Photography competitionsThere are over 20 different craft sections including - beadwork, jewellery, lace, recycling, patchwork and quilting, spinning and weaving, pottery and woodworkProbably the largest variety of craft in one place in Dorset
This year we have 2 guest exhibitions -
"Work in Wood" - 9 invited Dorset artists and craftspeople exhibit a wide range of skills in wood, including sculpture, wood turning, stick making, stringed musical instruments, marquetry, pyrography and coloured veneer plaques
"Photography by Dorchester Camera Club" - a mix of photographic prints and an audio visual photography exhibition
There is the opportunity to meet the makers in our art and craft stall areas
Let the youngsters 'have-a-go' in our Children's Workshops, there will be a variety of activities (suitable for those over 6 years) Advanced booking is not necessary, there is a nominal charge per workshop activity to cover material costs(See website for latest timetable.)
