Allingham was one of the leading figures of “The Golden Age of Detective Fiction”, and along with her contemporaries Agatha Christie, Dorothy L. Sayers, and Ngaio Marsh became collectively known as the Queens of Crime, representing the four women who came to dominate the genre.
The evening will feature an exhibition on the first floor landing and Special Collections Reading Room of the University of Essex Albert Sloman Library, with talks, lectures and readings from prominent historians, Margery Allingham Society members and academic staff at the University of Essex from 6pm in the Lakeside Theatre and will conclude from 7.45pm with a viewing of the exhibition and drinks in the Special Collections Reading Room.
