It is our absolute delight to present to you..
Benjamin Zephaniah, a British writer, dub poet, playwright and Rastafarian.
He grew up in Jamaica and the Handsworth district of Birmingham, England, leaving school at 14, he published his first poetry collection, Pen Rhythm, in 1980.
His poetry is strongly influenced by the music and poetry of Jamaica and what he calls ‘street politics’.
In addition to his published writing, Benjamin Zephaniah has produced numerous music recordings and has also appeared as an actor in several television and film productions.
On top of all of this he holds a handful of honorary degrees.
We can’t wait to have him grace the Vibes & Pressure stage!!
Amy True, Free Thinking British Born, London Based, Irish/Ugandan poet, rapper, singer songwriter who creates conscious Hip Hop, Soul & Jazz in a variety of ways.
She is an independent Artist who is also part of the 'Peoples Army Movement'.
She has Supported acts like Rodney P, Black Twang, Slum Village, illa J, Mos Def, Immortal tech, RA Da Rugged Man & Public Enemy to name a few.
Whilst collaborating on Albums with the likes of Akala, Benjamin Zephaniah, Shabaka Hitchin Congo Natty & Asian Dub Foundation.
As always the House band is Natty’s legendary band The Rebelship, so you may even get an impromptu performance from Natty himself.
Live Music begins at 8.30pm
Upstairs Selectors are Samurai and I-JAH playing all kinds of Roots and Culture in a more chilled setting where u can purchase alkaline-friendly vegan food provided by Rainforest Vegan Portobello.
A simple way to look at our philosophy is the concept of taking higher energy consciousness (Vibes) and applying it (Pressure) so as to affect positive change. Key Rastafari principles of balance, equal rights and unity and are at the foundation of this movement.
