Born in CoMeath Ireland, Rock Vocalist Robin McAuley was always listening to music growing upHard to escape as his Mother Elizabeth (Betty) was a great accordian playerLiving a stone’s throw from the local pub saw many a late night in the McAuley household as the revellers would come hang after hours to hear Betty bang out some old Irish fav’s on the “melodian” as we called it
That said Robin quickly discovered that his go to listening fav’s at the time was not necessarily Irish jigs but the sound of MotownThe FOUR TOPS, The Temptations, Smokey Robinson, Marvin Gaye, The Supremes and the list goes onSo many great Artists, so many great unforgettable songsThose Lyrics and thos melodies got Robin hooked for life
Then along came Irish Rockers “Thin Lizzy” with Whiskey In The Jar and the rest as they say is HistoryIncredibly Robin would record and perform Live with both Lizzy Guitarist’s Brian Robinson and Scott Gorham som years later
Always wanting to be a great drummer some day, he starting playing in local bands at the age of nine (9) yearsOccassionally singing background vocals, Robin’s lead vocals were soon pushed to the front where they have remained to this dayInfluenced by the great Rod Stewart/Faces, Paul Rodgers/Free and Lou Graham of Foreigner, this was the direction Robin wanted the wind to blow in
Now established as a World renowned Lead Vocalist for some of Rocks leading names, including German Guitarist Michael Schenker(MSG) MCAULEY SCHENKER GROUP created a sound of their own, breaking onto American radio, MTV and VH1 with memorable hits like the unforgettable power Ballad “ANYTIME”, When I’m Gone, Gimme Your Love, Love Is Not A Game, Save Youself, This Is My Heart and moreQuite impressive for the the young lad from CoMeath, Ireland
Robin’s career really began in London with NWOBHMHe joined RCA and later Chrysallis records Artist, Grand Prix between the bands years of 1978 and 1984Releasing three Albums of which Robin sang on “There For None To See” and “Samurai”The latter remaining a crowd favorite to this very day
After Grand Prix Robin joined the band Far Corporation in Frankfurt Germany and saw the release of Led Zepplin’s Stairway To Heaven! This remake produced by Boney M and Milli Vanilli producer Frank Farian, catapulted the single into the UK Top Ten reaching #8#9 in Ireland#16 in South Africa and #23 in Australia
Alongside Robin on Lead Vocals was the great Bobby Kimball “TOTO” plus other members of TOTO, Steve Lukather and David Paich
Robin Joined MSG in 1985 and at Michael Schenker’s request changed the name to McAuley Schenker GroupOpening for bands like RUSH, Def Leppard and selling out Wembley for 2 nights with Whitesnake
Robin took a hiatus from the business in 1999 and decided to be a Dad and watch his twin boys Jamie and Casey grow upRobin has been married to his Austrian Wife Gina for 31 years and they only recently became first time Grandparents, January 4th 2025
In 2006 Robin joined the band SURVIVORA month or two later Survivor performed live on “Dancing With The Stars” to a viewing audience of 58M Viewers with the Rocky Movie Hit “Eye Of The Tiger”!!
Robin left Survivor in 2012 and joined the Las Vegas Residency “Raiding The Rock Vault”Performing almost 1500 Shows in Seven Years until the pandemic hitRobin returned to Vegas for a short time after the Pandemic but Michael Schenker Fest was calling and the yearning for the road pulled Robin away from Vegas and back on the Tour Bus in front of Thousands of Live Fans screaming for those MSG Hits!
The Studio has always been home from home for Robin and at the request of Frontiers Music Srl he joined the Supergroup BLACK SWANTeaming up with Winger/Whitesnake Guitarist Reb Beach and Dokken/Foreigner Bassist Jeff Pilson and Ace Frehely/MrBig Drummer Matt Starr
The Band have released two full Studio albums “Shake the World” and “Generation Mind” with Album #3 about to be mixed and released in 2025Title awaiting!
Robin has also released three Solo Records on Frontiers Music Srl“STANDING ON THE EDGE”…”ALIVE” and in February 2025 “SOULBOUND”
Robin can also be heard singing on many tracks from Escape Music UK records, “Circle of Friends”
