Why is it that when we're children, playing and running around, we can reach that flow-state of fun so easily? But as we grow older, it can be harder. Improvisation can unlock this flow-state of joy once again - even when faced with text.
From the same company that brought long-form improv workshops last year, join Make It Beautiful Theatre Company for an immersive journey into the world of long-form improvisational storytelling and how we can use the joy it brings to pump new life into text.
Over several sessions, we'll explore how to improvise, how to have fun within the boundaries of long-form improv and, eventually, how to use that fun when speaking text. Why is it that the moment text is used onstage we can freeze up and forget the joy of play? This series of workshops will be tackling that head on.
Make It Beautiful Theatre Company is a london-based collective, starting at Drama Centre Acting School. Their workshop facilitators have also gone on to train in Moscow at the Boris Shchukin Theatre Institute and the Gaullier Clown School in France. MIB are dedicated to magical storytelling, long-form improvisation, comedy & unearthing the beautiful. For the past four years, they’ve been committed to telling and creating stories for UK and European stages, as well as sharing their ethos through workshops. These workshops have found a home at Italia Conti, Lamda, Alexandra Palace, UEA, Southbank University, the English Theatre of Hamburg and the Black Box Studio in Slovenia. They have also toured their long-form improv show, The Dream Machine, around the UK for the last 3 years.
