An evening like no other awaits at Unity Theatre as La Feria 2025 presents a powerful double-bill of music, poetry, and live theatre
This unique event blends performance and cuisine in an intimate, thought-provoking celebration of Latin American identity, artistry and storytelling.Opening the evening is Chile’s electrifying La Charawilla, the musical persona of Daniela Sepúlveda, whose radical blend of ancestral Chilean folk traditions and punk-infused energy promises to captivate. A singer and payadora rooted in the poetic form of décima, La Charawilla breathes new life into Chile’s traditional sounds with a bold and contemporary voice. Armed with her transposed guitar and defiant spirit, her music is as poetic as it is political, offering an unforgettable live experience steeped in cultural resistance and pride.
Following this powerful opening, Peruvian theatre-maker Pepa Duarte takes the stage with her internationally acclaimed solo performance Eating Myself — a sensual, multi-layered show that invites audiences into her kitchen as she cooks a meal live on stage. Fusing storytelling, original music, movement, and mouthwatering aromas, Duarte explores themes of body image, belonging and self-acceptance through the lens of food and Latin American womanhood. Deeply personal and emotionally resonant, Eating Myself is a heartfelt act of cultural sharing, celebrating the rituals and memories tied to what and how we eat.
The performance concludes with a post-show discussion and communal soup sharing — the very same dish prepared during the show — offering a rare opportunity to reflect, connect, and digest together in the spirit of community.
Presented by Luma Creations as part of La Feria 2025 – The International Festival of Latin American Arts and Culture, this event embodies the festival’s mission to uplift Latin American voices, bridge communities, and enrich the region’s cultural calendar with global perspectives. Early booking is strongly recommended for what promises to be one of the most powerful and sensory evenings of the season.
