SAA UK in collaboration with Zero Classikal invite you to a double bill of vocals of the North and South of India, featuring upcoming female artists; Strutti Suresan and Keertan Rehal.
Srutti Suresan performs on Vocals and an Lapsteel Guitar an instrument largely unknown within South Asian Classical music. Srutti presents a variety of carnatic music compositions to showcase how one craft has influenced the other, using her Vocal training to enthuse her performance technique on the Lapsteel Guitar, a unique yet soulful instrument. Srutti receives training under the tutelage of Dr. Rajkumar Bharathi and is a member of UK national ensemble, Tarang.
Keertan Rehal began her musical journey at the tender age of five learning Gurbani Kirtan from Ustad Dharambir Singh MBE. She quickly developed a keen interest in North Indian Classical music and trained under the late Jayasree Sen Gupta. She has had the privilege to develop her musicianship under legendary arists; late Jayasree Sen Gupta, Pandit Ajoy Chakraborty Ji, Kaushiki Chakraborty Ji, Parthasarathi Ji and is presently training with Smt Poloumi Chakraborty. Keertan has performed on various occasions for SAA uk, Manchester International Festival and Bradford literature festival. She showcases the various styles of vocal composition within Hindustani classical music.
