National Glass Centre Art Galleries
The National Glass Centre is an important and unique venture. Based in an innovative new building, set on the north bank of the River Wear, the National Glass Centre is dedicated to promoting glass in all its uses; in design and technology and as a vehicle for artistic expression.
The National Glass Centre is also a place of work where artists, designers and makers gather to produce exciting new products and art. The University of Sunderland's Glass, Architectural Glass and Ceramics Departments are located at the National Glass Centre as is the international Institute for Research in Glass; this enables us to attract some of the world's greatest glassmakers as well as train and educate new artists to the highest calibre.
The glass shop has something to suit all tastes and pockets, from marbles to exclusively designed lines made in the National Glass Centre to unique one-off masterpieces. You could even commission a unique piece of glass to commemorate a special occasion and arrange to have it dated and signed by the artist as a lasting memory.
