St Donats Castle stands above the Bristol Channel in the south of the rich agricultural lands of the Vale. The castle is the longest continually inhabited castle in Wales.
Once a year only St Donats Castle opens its doors to the public - what a sight beholds the visitor! See antique ceilings, fireplaces, a moat, battlements, dungeons in short over 800 years steeped in history.
The story is rich and colourful; from Celtic Kings, ghosts wailing on stormy nights, executed pirates, an enchanting witch called Mallt-y-Nos, Edward VIII and Mrs Simpson. More recently the story of fantastic riches and Hollywood romance when the castle was bought by the American millionaire, William Randolph Hearst.
