One of the largest excavated monastic sites in Europe, find out about the lives of the priory canons, and see examples of the work of medieval craftspeople. Explore the displays which recall the 400 years when Norton Priory was home to the Brooke family.
Explore the magnificent 800 year old vaulted storage range, and discover the historic priory remains excavated by archaeologists.
Real objects show what life was like both for the medieval monastic community and the Brooke family.
A fine model in the Museum shows the size and magnificence of the medieval priory and helps understanding of the excavated remains outside.
Look out for the bell mould, the cloister arcading, the wooden wine cask, the medieval tile kiln and the finest Romanesque doorway in the north west. .
