Museum Of The Gorge Museums
The Old Severn Warehouse is a short walk alongside the River from the Iron Bridge.
See what the Gorge was like in 1796 with the help of a giant 12 meter long model. Spot a Royal carriage crossing the Iron Bridge, the cargo on a Severn Trow and a tiny figure toiling in a coalmine.
Understand more about the area's history and discover why the Gorge was made a World Heritage Site during a short film.
At the Museum of The Gorge you get the bigger picture: the why, the how, the who and the when? Housed in a Gothic-style warehouse beside the River Severn, it uses film to explain the area's significance, and why, as a World Heritage Site, it ranks alongside the Pyramids and Taj Mahal in its importance in world history. The Museum also contains a giant scale model showing how the Gorge looked in 1796.
