Beech House, Gressenhall
Set in 50 beautiful acres of Norfolk countryside this delightful and unique museum offers a wonderful range of things to see and do. Dig deeper into Norfolk's rural past as you explore our stunning displays and visit traditional cottages and shops. Explore a Georgian workhouse and hear stories of the people who lived there. Amble through tranquil gardens and a historic orchard, meet rare breed farm animals or simply sit and savour the lovely views.
Explore 400 years of life on the land in Norfolk through these stunning hands-on displays. Pick up a free audio guide with songs and stories as well as contributions from experts. The children's version is particularly popular! Whether you go round on your own or share the experience with friends or family, our main galleries will draw you in to their rich and fascinating stories and send you away with food for thought!
The Mardlers' Rest Cafe is beside the green in the main courtyard. It offers a selection of teas, coffees, cakes, sandwiches and light meals in a friendly, welcoming environment. Roots is perfect for picnics - there are picnic tables and benches throughout the site.
Children will find all they need for a fun-packed day. Quizzes, colouring sheets and Explorer Packs help turn a trip to the farm or a walk in the country into a full-scale adventure. There's lots of fun to be had going round our in door displays too. You can dress up as a Victorian, take part in the 'game of life' or listen in to the special children's version of our free audio guide. Needless to say, no visit is complete without a visit to the adventure playground! .
